Our co-founder Lynsey G is has been writing since she learned how to hold a pencil way back in the 1900s. Since then, she’s written and published journalism, poetry, academic articles, comic books, graphic novels, and even an award-winning memoir. But through it all, she’s also been writing short fiction the likes of Vonnegut, Kafka, and Keret. She just never showed it off to anyone.
Lynsey is unveiling a series called “Tales from Existentia” with her first-ever novella, “Dwayne.” It’s the unnerving story of a young woman whose life is disrupted by the sudden arrival of a 15-ton granite monolith in her living room.
And, to kick it off, Lynsey’s here to read you the whole thing! So get cozy and settle in…you’re in for a weirdly fun ride!
Dwayne – Part 1
Here’s Part 1 of “Dwayne,” a dark speculative fiction novella by Lynsey G, read by the author. It’s the story of a woman who finds a monolith sitting ominously in her living room. Without knowing where it came from, or why it’s there, she sets about having it removed, but finds herself developing an unlikely camaraderie with her new roommate, who she’s named Dwayne.
Dwayne – Part 2
In Part 2 of Lynsey G’s novella “Dwayne,” our protagonist is getting accustomed to the giant boulder residing in her living room. The “phenomenon,” as the insurance adjustor calls it, has gone viral online, and she’s reinventing herself as “Rock Girl,” an extrovert who dates around. But when Dwayne suddenly appears in a different room, things begin to go downhill…
Dwayne – Part 3
In the third and final reading from Lynsey G’s novella “Dwayne,” our protagonist has reached her limit with the magical rock who’s taking over her home and life. But what can she do against a 15-ton monolith?
Dwayne’s Coming to Kickstarter!
Starting on Tuesday, February 1, we’re campaigning to fund e-book, trade paperback, and audiobook versions of “Dwayne”! Each version will have cover art and chapter-opener illustrations by Jayel Draco. And the audiobook will be narrated by Lynsey G!
The campaign has already been given the coveted “Projects We Love” tag on Kickstarter…and we haven’t even launched the campaign yet! The tag will help “Dwayne” reach more people when the project goes live, but there’s something else that will help us even more…
And that’s YOU following the pre-launch page!
Whether you plan to back or not, your simple click of the “Notify Me on Launch” button helps signal to Kickstarter that this is a campaign worth supporting.
